+ Brief

With travel on hold and social distancing measures in place, how can we reimagine the possibilities for audiences to be inspired by the art experience again?

The 5th Audemars Piguet Art Commission The Moon is Leaving Us by multi-disciplinary artist Phoebe Hui, guest curated by Ying Kwok at Tai Kwun in Hong Kong required a unique approach.

We produced a content series for the 5th Audemars Piguet Art Commission, including two short documentaries with artist Phoebe Hui and curator Ying Kwok as well as an immersive virtual exhibition tour.

With the two short documentaries, audiences are invited to have a glimpse into Phoebe’s studio during the intense process of creating two magnificent artworks: Selenite and Selena.

In the immersive virtual exhibition tour video, audiences are placed in a first-person point-of-view and guided by the lens to discover hidden details they might have missed while seeing the exhibition in person. The virtual tour allowed the art experience to transcend physical boundaries.

An immersive virtual tour of the 5th Audemars Piguet Art Commission "The Moon is Leaving Us" by Hong Kong-based multidisciplinary artist Phoebe Hui, led by Audemars Piguet Contemporary curator Audrey Teichmann.

Hong Kong artist Phoebe Hui’s large-scale installation The Moon Is Leaving Us enhances the critical role that representation plays in science and in our comprehension of the Universe. Hui questions the many different manners in which we represent the Moon and blurs the boundaries between science and poetry to shine a new light on the cultural ties we share, on a global scale, with Earth's only natural satellite.

Through an epistemological approach, the artist captures the melancholic emotions entangled with the scientific fact that the Moon is slowly migrating away from Earth.
